Root Rot is a plant disease that happens when the roots of a plant are too wet for too long. It can also happen if the roots were left too dry for too long, and then flooded with water.
Imagine this:
Roots need air as well as water.
If the soil is always soggy, there's no air, and the roots start to suffocate.
This creates the perfect environment for fungi or bacteria to grow.
These germs attack the roots, making them soft, brown, and smelly.
Rotten roots can’t take up water or nutrients, so the plant starts to wilt, yellow, and die — even though the soil is wet!
Signs of root rot:
Wilting or droopy leaves
Yellowing leaves
Mushy or dark roots
Soil that smells bad
How to prevent it:
Don’t overwater
Use pots with drainage holes
Use well-draining soil
Let the soil dry out between waterings
How to TREAT it using Hydrogen Peroxide:
